How to: Share a Recording
Provide Non-Anonymous (Restricted)
or
Anonymous (Public) Access Link to a Specific Recording
Tegrity allows you to create two types of links to a specific recording:
- Anonymous (Public) link that can be used by anyone
- Non-Anonymous (Restricted) link that can be used by users enrolled in the course where the recording exists
A recording link can be posted on a web site, in a file, or in an email message (anywhere you can post a link)
Note: To share an Anonymous (Public) link the recording must first be Published
To obtain a link to a specific class recording:
1. On the Course page, select the check box next to the name of the desired recording
2. From the Recording Tasks drop-down menu (on the right-hand side of the course recording list page), select Share Recording
3. The ‘Share Recording’ dialog window appears
Option 1: Non-Anonymous (Restricted) Recording Link (as image above)
For a link to the selected recording that provides access only to students enrolled in the course:
- Keep the ‘Do not allow anonymous users to view the recording’ check box selected (checked)
- Copy the URL value
Notes:
- Non-Anonymous (restricted) recording links are used to provide access to a specific recording to users that are enrolled in the course where the recording exist
- When a user clicks on a non-anonymous (restricted) recording link, the user is directed to the login page of your institution’s Tegrity service. The user needs to enter his/her user ID and password to view the recording
- The non-anonymous (restricted) recording links require that users have the ability to log into your institution’s Tegrity service directly and not just via single sign-on (SSO) from your institution’s Learning Management System (LMS)
Option 2: Anonymous (Public) Recording Link
- For a link to the selected recording that provides unrestricted, public, anonymous access:
- Uncheck the ‘Do not allow anonymous users to view the recording’ check box
- Copy the new (different) URL value, then click OK
Notes:
- Anonymous (public) recording links are used to give access to people not currently enrolled in the course (i.e., students, colleagues, or others)
- Anyone who gains access to an anonymous recording link can playback the recording
- All views of the recording via the anonymous (public) link are attributed to the “[Unknown User]” in usage reports
- The anonymous (public) link does not provide any of the Tegrity “personalization” features since the person does not login to Tegrity to view the recording
- The Embed value displays a mini Tegrity playback image on a web page that supports java script
