How to: Setup AAIRS Direct Login Authentication, Authorization and Single Sign-On Interlinks

How to configure Direct Login Authentication

Authentication verifies that the user is who they claim to be (username and password are correct). This process uses the institution’s own authentication authorities and can be configured to check one of more authorities

Configuring Direct Login Authentication:

1. Access your Tegrity admin dashboard.

2. Click “Manage AAIRS” under the “Integration” heading.

3. Next, scroll down to the Direct Login Authentication section and select edit.

4. The available connectors will appear on the right-hand side.

5. Simply drag the connector you would like to use from the box on the right into the section labeled “Drag additional connectors here”

Once added, enter in the required information, when finished with the connector select “Save”.

Repeat the drag-and-drop process until all desired connectors have been added.

If you will not be adding any additional connectors scroll to the top or bottom of the page a select “Save and Continue” to complete the process.

 

What is authorization?

Authorization runs after a user has been authenticated. This process provides permission for what the user is allowed to see and do in Tegrity. Authorization works to link up each username to the courses in which they are enrolled, and also flags each user by role (instructor/student).

Configuring authorization:

1. Access your Tegrity admin dashboard.

2. Click “Manage AAIRS” under the “Integration” heading.

3. This screen allows you to add multiple connectors (including course management systems).

4. Select “Edit” next to the authorization heading. The available connectors will appear on the right-hand side.

5. Simply drag the connector you would like to use from the box on the right into the section labeled “Drag additional connectors here”

Once added, enter in the required information, when finished with the connector select “Save”.

Repeat the drag-and-drop process until all desired connectors have been added.

What is a Single Sign-On Interlink?

Setting up Single Sign-On Interlinks automatically adds a Tegrity courses link in external systems such as Blackboard or Canvas.

Step 3: How to setup Single Sign-On Interlinks

1. Access your Tegrity admin dashboard.

2. Click “Manage AAIRS” under the “Integration” heading.

3. The following screen appears.

4. Select “Edit” next to Single Sign-On Interlinks. The available connectors will appear on the right-hand side.

5. Simply drag the connector you would like to use from the box on the right into the section labeled “Drag additional connectors here”

Once added, enter in the required information, when finished with the connector select “Save”.

Repeat the drag-and-drop process until all desired connectors have been added.

The “Advanced Filters” option in Single Sign-On Interlinks allows you can control which of your courses automatically receive Tegrity links.

Testing the connectors:

After you have selected the connectors you would like to use, Tegrity allows you to test the connector to insure its working correctly.

To do this scroll to the selection you would like to test.

In this example: “Direct Login Authentication”

Click “test”, as shown below.

Enter the credentials in the designated area username / password

Below is an example of a failed user test, meaning that the authentication process failed.
